On May 9, lawyer, educator, author, and activist Anita Hill presents the 2024 Lorwin Lecture on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the University of Oregon, sponsored by the Wayne Morse Center and the Center for the Study of Women in Society (CSWS). Hill is the University Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and David R. Pokross Professor of Law and Social Policy at Brandeis University. Her latest award-winning book, Believing: Our Thirty-Year Journey to End Gender Violence, is a new manifesto about the origins and course of gender violence in our society—combining memoir, personal accounts, law, and social analysis to make a powerful call to action, from one of our most prominent and poised survivors. Hill's visit is part of CSWS's 50th anniversary event programming.
