Liszt’s Années de pèlerinage was written between 1837 and 1877 for solo piano. Its three books are considered the summation of his compositional style. Soon after returning from Switzerland, Liszt and Marie d'Agoult set off on a trip to Italy in 1837. Book II was inspired during this trip, and it is devoted to literature and visual arts he encountered. The Venezia e Napoli was published as a supplement to the seven pieces in the main volume. This concert will feature all 10 pieces of the volume.
